L’articolo compie un percorso esplorativo, facendo ricorso soprattutto alla letteratura esistente, sui potenziali effetti dei sistemi di mobilità condivisa sullo sviluppo e l’organizzazione delle città. La prima sezione ripercorre in una prospettiva storica le forme di interazione tra esigenze di mobilità e modelli di urbanizzazione, analizzandone i presupposti socio-economici e gli effetti dal punto di vista ambientale.
